چکیده

We consider distance matrices of certain graphs and of points chosen in a rectangular grid. Formulae for the inverse and the determinant of the distance matrix of a weighted tree are obtained. Results concerning the inertia and the determinant of the distance matrix of an unweighted unicyclic graph are proved. If D is the distance matrix of a tree, then we obtain certain results for a perturbation of D−1. As an example, it is shown that if L̃ is the Laplacian matrix of an arbitrary connected graph, then ( D−1 − L̃ )−1 is an entrywise positive matrix. We consider the distance matrix of a subset of a rectangular grid of points in the plane. If we choose m+ k − 1 points, not containing a closed path, in an m× k grid, then a formula for the determinant of the distance matrix of such points is obtained. © 2004 Elsevier Inc. On the determinant of q-distance matrix of a graph

In this note, we show how the determinant of the q-distance matrix Dq(T ) of a weighted directed graph G can be expressed in terms of the corresponding determinants for the blocks of G, and thus generalize the results obtained by Graham et al. [R.L. Graham, A.J. Hoffman and H. Hosoya, On the distance matrix of a directed graph, J. Graph Theory 1 (1977) 85–88]. Further, by means of the result, w...

Distances in Weighted Trees and Group Inverse of Laplacian Matrices

In this paper we find formulas for group inverses of Laplacians of weighted trees. We then develop a relationship between entries of the group inverse and various distance functions on trees. In particular, we show that the maximal and minimal entries on the diagonal of the group inverse correspond to certain pendant vertices of the tree and to a centroid of the tree, respectively. We also give...

0 Ju l 2 00 6 Combinatorial Laplacians and Positivity Under Partial Transpose

Density matrices of graphs are combinatorial laplacians normalized to have trace one (Braunstein et al. Phys. Rev. A, 73:1, 012320 (2006)). This work deals with properties of density matrices of graphs and indicates some venues for future research in this subject. Namely, we prove that the condition called degree-criterion, which was conjectured to be necessary and sufficient for separability o...

Performance Analysis of Graph Laplacian Matrices in Detecting Protein Complexes

Detecting protein complexes is an important way to discover the relationship between network topological structure and its functional features in protein-protein interaction (PPI) network. The spectral clustering method is a popular approach. However, how to select its optimal Laplacian matrix is still an open problem. Here, we analyzed the performances of three graph Laplacian matrices (unnorm...

Centric connectivity index by shell matrices

Relative centricity RC values of vertices/atoms are calculated within the Distance Detour and Cluj-Distance criteria on their corresponding Shell transforms. The vertex RC distribution in a molecular graph gives atom equivalence classes, useful in interpretation of NMR spectra. Timed by vertex valences, RC provides a new index, called Centric Connectivity CC, which can be useful in the topologi...
